If you are a psychotherapist, or simply have an interest in psychotherapy, and you want to know more about the theory that started it all, this excellent introductory program has been designed for you. This thirty-three week course combines teaching of basic concepts of psychoanalysis with presentation of clinical cases and explanation of therapy technique. Knowledge and understanding of concepts such as transference and counter-transference can be of enormous help in making sense of interactions with patients and clients, no matter what your preferred modality of treatment.
This program is offered by the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society in response to the growing interest of individuals who want more than their education has offered to date. Although it is not a training program, it could certainly lead to one. Seminars are taught by experienced teachers, and will be held on Thursday evenings, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm.
This program is open to mental health professionals and other professionals who are interested in learning about the ideas and theories of psychoanalytic therapy. The educational requirement is a master’s or other professional degree. All applicants will be interviewed by a member of the Committee.
