The Scientific Committee of our Society invited members to join a study group on psychoanalytic supervision. Twelve registered.
We are aware that there is no training available in Toronto for learning about psychoanalytic supervision. The study group will be an introduction to the complexity of the supervisory process. Different analytic perspective was the focus of our study— classical, intersubjectivity, Ogden’s, self-psychology and Kleinian. This was followed by two clinical presentations of two participants of their own supervisory experiences.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this presentation participants will be able to:
- Learning about different analytic approaches to psychoanalytic supervision- an introduction.
- Appreciate the need for training.
- Aware of some of the conflicts during the supervisory interactions.
Joshua Levy, PhD, C.Psych.
Training and supervising analyst at the Toronto Psychoanalytic Institute, a Faculty, member at the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis, and Associate Professor Emeritus in the department of psychiatry at the University of Toronto.
He had published papers on psychoanalytic supervision and the learning and teaching of dreams. His yearly workshops focused on a variety of essential psychoanalytic topics.
He is the recipient of the Hans Loewald Memorial Award and the Canadian Psychological Award.

This event is an accredited group learning activity (section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certificate Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, approved by the Canadian Psychiatric Association (CPA).
